Hello!
Twenty years of building, learning, and discovering what it means to create something that lasts.
My journey in construction has never followed a conventional blueprint.
For the better part of two decades, I've worked with my hands, learned from experienced craftspeople, and explored different approaches to building. What began as a way to earn a living gradually became something much more meaningful: an appreciation for the relationship between craftsmanship, creativity, and the spaces we inhabit.
Over the years, I've worked in residential and commercial construction, taking on roles ranging from laborer and carpenter to estimator, insurance adjuster, and project manager. Each experience offered a different perspective on the building process, from the smallest details of hands-on work to the complexities of managing an entire project.
My curiosity about construction has taken me well beyond Ohio. I've traveled across the United States, working on projects from California to Vermont, studied traditional log home construction in Canada, and participated in building with earth in France. These experiences introduced me to different materials, techniques, and philosophies, expanding my understanding of what it means to build.
Along the way, I developed a particular interest in high-performance construction and Passive House building principles. This work deepened my appreciation for building science, energy efficiency, thoughtful design, and the importance of understanding how every component of a structure works together.
But perhaps the most valuable lessons have come from the people I've worked alongside, the challenges I've encountered, and the countless hours spent learning through experience.
A Return to Craftsmanship
After years of working across different areas of the construction industry, I've found myself drawn back to what I enjoy most: working with my hands, solving problems, and bringing care and attention to the details.
Today, rather than managing large crews or overseeing major construction projects, I choose to focus on smaller residential improvements, repairs, painting, and carpentry.
There's something rewarding about taking on a project from beginning to end, working directly with a homeowner, and knowing that the finished work reflects my own commitment to quality.
Whether I'm repairing something that's been neglected, restoring an existing feature, or making improvements to a home, I bring the same knowledge and attention to detail that I've developed throughout my career.
Building with Intention
Construction has taught me that a strong foundation is about more than what lies beneath a structure. It's about understanding the materials, respecting the process, and recognizing that even the smallest details contribute to the integrity of the whole.
That philosophy has become an important part of Deeper Foundations.
For me, craftsmanship isn't simply about building or fixing something. It's about approaching the work with curiosity, patience, and intention.
Because the quality of what we build reflects the care we bring to building it.
