What is Kambo?
Kambo, also known as Sapo, Dow-Kiet, Campu, and Vacino de Florista is the secretion of the phyllomedusa bicolor, the Giant Monkey Tree Frog of the lower Amazon basin. The secretion is common to many different indigenous Amazonian tribes such as the Matses and Yawanawa.
What is Kambo used for?
In the Amazon, Kambo is predominantly used for hunting prowess, as it is known to increase visual perception and acuity, sharpen the senses, increase strength and stamina, suppress appetite, and enhance night vision.
In the West and other parts of the world, it is currently being studied for over 30 of its bioactive peptides which have been shown to be useful in modulating the immune system, cleansing the liver, gall bladder, and lymphatic system of toxins, and delivering an analgesic effect more powerful than morphine. In addition, several of these peptides have been shown to be useful against viral, yeast and bacterial overgrowths.
It has been debated that Kambo is a powerful cleanser of the energetic body and an excellent preparation for the practice of Dieta as well as other plant medicines. In addition, this Kambo experience can provide a "warrior energy”. In other words, an increased ability to relax and focus in the face of stress, that lasts for several weeks following your session.

Kambo is NOT A JOKE.
It is a powerful frog secretion best approached with great respect.
Kambo is regarded as an "ordeal experience” and with good reason.
This experience, while lasting only 20-40 minutes, is quite intense, and not for anyone simply looking to check off a Psychonaut bucket list item. Click here for a generalized breakdown of how the Kambo ceremony and experience generally flows.

What does science tell us about Kambo?
Kambo secretion contains a complex mixture of bioactive peptides that interact with different systems throughout the body. These compounds have been studied for their effects on blood vessels, smooth muscle, gastrointestinal activity, opioid receptors, and other physiological processes. When Kambo is applied through small superficial points on the skin, these compounds can produce a rapid and intense response, including changes in heart rate and blood pressure, flushing, nausea, and purging.
-
Why are contraindications and cautions important?
Kambo creates a strong physiological response and may not be appropriate for everyone. Contraindications identify health conditions, medications, or circumstances in which Kambo should not be administered, while cautions highlight situations that may require additional screening, discussion, or modifications to a session.Reviewing this information carefully helps identify potential risks and allows both practitioner and participant to make an informed decision about whether it is appropriate to proceed.

Why is a pre-screen + informed consent + liability form required?
Your safety and well-being are an important part of preparing for a Kambo session. This intake form gathers relevant information about your health history, medications, previous experiences, and other factors that may affect your participation.
